It's targeted to younger men in compare to Lion EDP. For that price, I took a chance. Take a well appointed Kentucky horse stable, 100 gerbil cages, and infuse their essence into Charles Bronson's 1970s wood paneled parlor. 
The longevity is pretty good which is great because this IS a smell I like to find on my old clothes. Initially sweetish, spicy and cedary, it dries down to a spicy sandalwood that is quite lovely. Projection is weak after 2 hours; but stays long time (EDP). It's a bit more of a sharper woodiness. You will be pleasantly surprised. I know it was great on me and short lastingbut what a GREAT scent! I have ordered blind both the EDP and aftershave based on my positive experience with Encre Noire and White. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. I had sprayed just twice with Equus before leaving my house. Some say hamster cage or horse stall, but for that to be true, we would need a little civet or something dark, dank and sweaty; this fragrance doesn't have any of those qualities. Everyone asking me what it is, this is remarkable smell for such a good price .

If youve ever been to the USA mountain west (Wyoming, Utah, Colorado), there exists a aesthetic of country/rustic posh: grand cabins, lots of natural wood, exposed log beams, expensive hand-made leather boots- think Jackson Hole, Park City, Aspen. This is an instant yes for me. Also that it's a more affordable, everyday-wear sport version of Creed Royal Oud. Probably my least favorite from Lalique's offerings. Unpopular Opinion: I have both the older Engraved Horse EDP, and also the newer Cartoon Horse EDP, and I like the scent of the newer version much better. Fragrance Reviews: 1,286,783 Lovely smooth and slightly sweet woods. It's more airy than I expected and this quality makes it signature-scent worthy and suitable all year-round. A beautiful, year-round scent evoking a certain rural sophistication and charm. This scent takes me back there. Sequoia: I would never have imagined it! It's an amazing scent. 
I'm not even a guy that cares too much about performance but when you only get 2-3 hours of longevity and pretty much no projection of scent you actually like it's disappointing, to say the least. Great, great, great fragrance. The drydown is incredibly smooth and well balanced, every note seems to sit in the composition perfectly which creates a warm alluring scent. My review is from a 5ml sample and 3 wearings over the last couple weeks. i really did blind-buy this because of that beautiful horses head etched into the glass! I purchased this perfume (Lalique Equus EDP) for my husband and when he wore it, it reminded me of something between Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Tonka Imperiale. Based on great review about Lalique Pour Homme Equus, I got this as a blind buy and disappointed. Unique, lalique's signature type of fragrance. It is a soothing scent. The bottle is also incredibly stunning. Terrific and unique smell, but sits very close to the skinVERY, VERY close in fact, before fading away after about three hours. Perfect every day scent! It has a sparkly zing in its opening that is very interesting. Equus is no different. It has however grown on me. Like a love you know is wrong for you but you just can't resist her soft violet touch. sometimes I'll just spray just a bit on my wrist before bed. Can anyone advise what difference there is in scent and performance between the EDP and EDT? Since I pretty much loved every Lalique I could sniff, I just bought this one blind even not liking predominantly woody fragrances. Does not smell like a horse, and I don't associate forest smells like the cedar and spices with horses at all. But I love the fragrance itself, far more than I expected to. This smells EXACTLY like Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver, but a tad less sweet. . EDT or EDP? The bottle represent one of the powerful animal in zodiac. Its nice. It is a nice scent , very dependent on the weather conditions. It is a very subtle elegant and woody fragrance although i would not say it is particularly masculine. strong, sexy, spicy and absolutly unique!!! I like Equus better than Encre Noir. This smells very similar to Zwitsal, the baby oil that I used when I am still in kindergarden. Idkwhen i first sprayed I didn't like it, but now it's enjoyable on my shirt's sleeve. If Equus was branded by a niche fragrance it would be sold around 250 euros ! 
If so, this scent will bring back those memories. This is no different. But it really is an amazing, awesome, fantastic and unique fragrance. it becomes a woody scent. Frustrating. I honestly love the scent, but it's longevity is a huge short coming. I mostly get citrus, light floral and cedar. It's fresh like a forest, yet spicy. Maybe bright sunny fall day too? In terms of originality, uniqueness- Lalique's scents are in the class of their own (maybe except Lion). Very nice fragrance that keeps you feeling positive in a good energy way. I'm only sad I waited so long to try Lalique's Pour Homme Equus. Perfume lovers: 792,160 My honest initial impression was one of a wrinkled nose and more thoughts of hamster cage than of stallions and medieval forests. 
This was a blind buy (for 7 dollars), and it just came in the mail.. and Im in love. Pour Homme Equus opnes with an accord of fresh citrus (mainly lemon), violet leaf and a considerable dose of cardamom. And not so much because of the scent, but because of it's performance. 8.5/10 overall and 10/10 when I factor in the price. 
I blind bought this based on the note breakdown after buying Encre Noire and Encre Noire Sport and being really impressed by the brand. The Lalique house is top drawer, but slightly under the radar. in the same corner as frapins l'humaniste but without the annoying lemony openings (also very similar to gucci pour homme II, penhaligons opus and lubins gin fizz). It's like why would you say it's juniper, mace, cardamon etc. I just obtained the EDP of thiskinda love it alreadyit really does smell like a pet storebut that doesn't seem to matter, LOL. a beautiful fragrance, I like but don't love. Smells like ointment that you use to rub on sore musclesprobably because of the mace note, which give this a very menthol-y aroma. But on the drydown (within a few minutes) the scent becomes one of realistic wood accord (I'm guessing this is the sequoia) with sweet nutmeg and violet leaf. The green woody notes and vetiver and I have an unforgiving history. You can almost smell the incense-cedar -- an elegant aroma of peace. Amazing fragrance! Top notes are Bergamot, Lemon and Citron; middle notes are Juniper, Cardamom, Violet Leaf, Nutmeg, Brazilian Redwood and Mace; base notes are Sequoia, Vetiver, Leather, Benzoin, Amyris and Musk. The conclusion is everybody's skin is different with parfumes. This one of my favorites from Lalique and if it is discontinued I need to start restocking on it. It has medium projection and longevity, I would give 8/10 for this handsome perfume. Amazing! And I'm not one bit disappointed! Not generic woods - the smells of nature. great, all year round smell for men with class. Lalique Equus is actually a sophisticated fragrance, more mature and gentlemanly than it's more friendly and more cedary little brother Visit. Probably my fave juniper notes perfume. Smell of open log cabin..very country. It opens with a lemon or tangerine peel near the fireplace. Back at the lodge, you have all the creature comforts of a luxury hotel. There is no cedar listed in the pyramid but my nose definitely detects that vibe but the familiar redeeming note of cardamom is also here and it smooths Equus out along with faint citrus and lightly sweet juniper berries. Smells classy, yet inoffensive for daily basis. Enough musk underneath to keep it interesting, too. (EDP) On my skin I get a lot of vetiver from this after the citrus opening dies down. I'm guessing this was recently reformulated because I got really terrible performance which my bottle which kind of ruined the fragrance for me. Intoxicating projection for many hours, strong sillage. :-). Unfortunately, Equus is missing that addictive black tea note from GPHII, as well as a bit of the cinnamon smoothness, but the resemblance is still striking. It is lasting and really stayed on my skin very well. I need to reapply every 4 hours, which for the price isn't a deal breaker. This perfume is really nice, firm and very classy! It's definitely got that barnyard vibe (dusty hay, cedar chips and dried manure). This love lasts now some years Maybe it is so good on a the skin of my bf but then it is a bonus ;). I adore Equus on a cold Autumn morning when the sillage mixes with the scent of the new day and the smell burning wood stoves wafting through the air. for that reason, i don't wear it out very often. i always loved this perfume never done me wrong not good in extreme heat tho, i love this smell it's one of a kind a good signature scent definitely i would recommend it for sure. Why do they hide this? It is unique and a nice change from the typical blue or citrus men's colognes. Not too strong so you can't over spray it (i like that). A blast of citruses. I can't ask for more! Blown away by how brilliantly unique this beautiful fragrance is. The bottle is beautiful. After 4 hours I can barely smell antyhing at all. Overall it is great and I love it, but I would prefer a better longevity. They are very similar, and I will wear and enjoy them both, but the newer version is just nicer to me. It's a modern mature feeling that it gives off. Its a comforting smell that has something to it that seems just slightly feminine to me. I found a miniature of this perfume, grab it. I've had this one for a few weeks now and I have to say I wasn't a huge fan at first. 
Smells like powdery hay and hamster cage bedding shavings with a pinch of spice. That is what its all about. I love Quorum Silver and TDH so I figured I would like this one. Great value as of now. This is a bit of a one dimensional sequoia scent, but it is very well done and unique in its detailed recreation of this particular wood. Smells favorably in quality to Bois de Portugal, though the profile is different. The scent is spicy- woody but is not heavy. Unique and complex niche scent that exudes class. It is Two Towers to White's Return of the King. This smells exactly like being on a newly-built cedar deck overlooking a fern-carpeted valley under a pine forest canopy after a rain shower while sipping a gin and tonic from the well-oiled saddle of your recently shampooed horse. This is ok at best but nothing to write home about. This scent deserves credit for staying on point with the overall theme of leather, equine stables and outdoors. and being born into a year-of-the-horse just sealed the metaphorical deal! Yes the wood notes are there immediately but nurture Equus through the day and it rewards you with a subtle sophistication as it's other notes reveal themselves. One of those scents that takes you somewhere when you take a whiff. This is a more gentle blend of scents, that develops and gets richer over time. Cashmere, benzoin and amyris round out the base, and the fragrance maintains it's sweetness, is still woody, with citrus and pine (that's the Amyris). This was a blind buy since I love oriental woody and spicy woody fragrances, and I'm quite the fan of mahogany. The sequoia note is very prominent and natural smelling. Mountain high-country-classy: you wear cowboy boots, but those $2000 hand-stitched pair of Luccheses aint ever kicked a pile of cow sh**. It's one of those unusual fragrances that you never smell anything like it before. I hate the usual, "masculine," strong woody fragrances, and I don't like violet leaf, but this fragrance is very well done, about as good as it gets if you like balanced,.dynamic, natural smelling ones, as I do. But what the designer has done here is knock that woodsiness down a couple of pegs and warm it up with just enough spice (nutmeg, mace, cardamom) and benzoin to round its edges nicely. It is very autumnal, wintery and outdoorsy, but it is understated so can also be quite formal. :)Actually,the perfume reminds me of something from the pastlike 90 vibe.It is original,nothing close to todays mass appealing offerings,so youll smell great and original.I must say that Im very,very happy with this purchase,and I would Highly recommend it. This is a great woody floral musk, and it's one of the best values in the fragrance market, niche quality and composition, very unique and beautiful woods, realistic, yet overall very aromatic. I like equus very much. Wow! It's afforfablr, but i wish it will be last longer on my skin. Unfortunately, this will be located near the back of my collection due to the overly strong pepper I sense. Projection ("sillage") is moderate at best (I have only tried the EdT), but longevity is quite good (I got some on my shirt and that lasted a very long time). Here's my take on the EDP: heavy cedar, some pine, mild spices in the background. Sillage is good but it not last long only 4 hours. Safe blind buy? Bought a Decant. A scent for a hike in the fall foliage in New England or upstate New York. A beautiful scent that genuinely reminds me of a freshly poured glass of Iced Tea on a warm brisk day. Sometimes I happen upon a page and I'm shocked to find I haven't posted a review for a scent that I've owned for ages and am highly accustomed to. spicey peppery woody with a great drydown i sometimes layer it with it with Encre Noire to get a realy dark spicey wood scent, i like it even more than encre noire. Three wordsamazing, fantastic, Unique! If you are under 25y/o don't blind buy this. Or maybe I didn't understand it fully yet. The wood notes are there and they linger, I might say, even longer than the Lalique ones! Because of this mature vibe and me only being 19 I feel like this is a special occasion scent, maybe as I get older I may wear a bit more liberally. Equus has the ability on me to bring to mind all the wonderful little details of the season that might otherwise go unnoticed in the daily grind. I have the EDT and the EDP. It turns then to a woody musk base that's well executed but not very distinctive. 
Lalique Pour Homme Equus by Lalique is a Amber Spicy fragrance for men. Whatever the composition, it is magnificent and unique to my experience. 
I will definitely make this one a regular starter! what a disappointment. actually this scent is very good, so now i am pissed off. Would not repurchase or recommend this otherwise fantastic fragrance for these reasons. A big dose of lemony citrus with woods starts the fragrance off. The EDP is not stronger than the EDT .The EDP is more spicy and the EDT is more woody. Clean, brisk, wonderful, so unlike anything else I have. This EDP was under $30 when I bought it. Overall, a scent good for the fall and feels like it fits best outdoors. My new favourite, with heavenly smell. 
That woodsy note is present through all the experience, deserves a full review and provides Equus whit an earthy and balmy odor profile. You start enjoying Equus from the moment you open the box, then the bottle and the smell the mind anticipates and create the illusion that you are already getting the sequoia note (or actually get it, if you have already spray it). The scent itself starts good, with a bitter lemon - citrus accord, going to an accord of bitter violet mixed beautifully with spices and ending with musk, woods and leather. This fragrance takes me on a journey through a vast land with well-defined groves of prehistoric trees. It's a like, not a love. Spicy, oriental and unisex. Just enough leather to toughen it up, but balanced by the violet leaf so it isnt rugged. 30+ men fragrance. I got the EDT. But this one is Definitely not for me. If you was once a horse owner you know the smell of cleaning a horse stall. Also, the bottle is gorgeous! The cap feels cheap alsoif it is important for you. Somehow less mass-produced. I think the equilibrium is primein that it feels maturebut isn't dated or entirely vintage in any way. Great longevity and moderate sillage with 2 sprays. I got the chance finally to put my hand this beautiful scent, that I was running after since quiet long time. This is a unique fragrance due to the sequoia base, sets it apart from wood notes you usually encounter like cedar. The gin like juniper appears lending a bit of a boozy note and then the pleasant spices of cardamon and nutmeg merge with some tart but smooth citrus. Not for me. very well blended and very good longevity on my skin. This one smells very modern even though it is 20 years old! Ok,ok.received the edp today.Blind buy,naturally. And that later it just smells like a really nice forest once the fruits wear off. For me it conjures images of Western Europe in centuries past. I've never smelled mace in a fragrance and it's pleasing. I have the Encre noir, White and a couple of others from Lalique. A little more modern than Lion. Bloody amazing! Would consider the EDT too. If you ever opened a new pack of cigarettes and took a whiff of it, then you are close to knowing how Equus smells. Then comes great Base - with luxurious woody /leathery/soapy musk. I wonder if it was reformulated as well. Hi every one this perfume one if the strong longevity. Tons of wood with a bit of citrus; light but strong, if that makes sense. Green and fresh. In the best way. As this fragrance heads down into the mid, the spices and citrus come through with the cardamom, nutmeg, mace and a bit of citrus (not over powering citrus). After 30-60 min. There seems to be a bit of a vanilla/ambery aspect that eventually comes out, softening it up and providing a little sweetness. I'm so glad that I have it in my collection. The bootle is a glassware masterpiece. It reminds me of only ONE thing - HAMSTER CAGE BEDDING! When the dry down occurs this fragrance truly opens up in a delightful way. It is more of a mature scent as well. EDT is nice for spring, will have to see how it will do in summer, but it is overall an airier and cooler version, versus the EDP which is richer and warmer. 
Dries down to a soft, spicy, resinous, warm scent with moderate projection. A little citrus to keep it bright and fresh, and a lot of woods to keep it hearty and cozy. Lalique never disappoints in the unique factor. It's gonna be my signature scent. You are dwarfed by their girth and height. I managed to get a bottle with the engraved / etched horse and the reviews below have certainly been more accurate than expected. It opens up with like warm spicy then dry down is musky woody. Equus brings a multi-faceted woodsiness -- as in that almost acidic, pickle-juice cedar/redwood tempered with the greenness of juniper. This is lovely, again Lalique doesn't disappoint! Spicy woods. Even though the bottle was depictured as the older one with the relief horse, I received the newer one with the flat motif. This stuff is amazing! 
It's kind of delicate unfortunatelly, but everytime you smell yourself - you feel the class. It begins with a very nice smelling citrus (bergamot mainly) blend with a faint peppery undertone. 
And Equus has very little similarity to Oscar for Men (1999), which is a very underrated, spicy citrus fragrance that, in addition to not being boring, was a precursor to both later releases of David Beckham Instinct and Terre d'Hermes. FAIR performance. This one (EdP) smells like a circus arena or a hamster cage. 
So I'd say it's by no means a "safe" fragrance. 8.5/10. This aromatic spicy scent really attracts people, I get compliments whenever I wear it. Performance of my two bottles is about the same (which is, not great). I am totally in love with this one. Well, in my case, I get mostly juniper (which I have found I really dislike, too astringent to my nose) with some spices, I get cinnamon, which reminds me of Spicebomb (could be the nutmeg). I only have one bottle and i will have to purchase one moreor i will have to save it with a lot of affection!Lalique made a really well done job. But, unfortunately, has failed a lot to allow the discontinuation of this gem. Tobacco scent without tobacco note. Great for waking the senses yet relaxing. I can say similar bachmakov a little bit and nivea balsam.
